Adam Simmons appointed Chief Clerk of the Course

MotorSport New Zealand’s Board has appointed Adam Simmons as the sport’s Chief Clerk of the Course.

Simmons, a distinguished Gold Race Clerk of the Course, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Having started his official journey at just 12 years old as a timekeeper, Simmons has progressed through a variety of roles such as start line, CRO and race control, giving him a solid understanding of the team effort required to support motorsport events.

He has served as the Race Director for multiple New Zealand Championships, most notably the Toyota Racing Series and latterly as the Race Director for the FIA Formula Regional Oceania Championship since its inception in 2023.

Outside of his Clerk of the Course role, Simmons also holds a Steward’s licence and is a member and former chair of the Race Advisory Commission. In 2023, Simmons was a recipient of the MotorSport New Zealand Distinguished Service Award.

“I’m excited to take on the role and appreciate the trust MotorSport New Zealand are putting in me,” said Simmons.

“We have an awesome group of dedicated Clerks of the Course and I’m looking forward to working with them so we can continue to put on quality events up and down the country that competitors enjoy as well as ensuring we operate in accordance with the rules.”

Simmons takes over the role immediately, succeeding Craig Finlayson who held the role since August 2020.
